Opportune Reminder at the advent of the Novel Corona Virus | Shaykh ‘Abdul Ḥamīd al-Ḥajūrī

The Shaykh حفظه الله mentioned:

The Novel Corona Virus that has appeared in China, the ruling regarding it is as has been mentioned in the Ḥadīth of Usāma bin Zaid رضي الله عنه reported by Muslim:

“Plague is the sign of a calamity with which Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, affects people from His servants. So when you hear about it, don’t enter there (where it has broken out), and when it has broken out in a land and you are there, then don’t run away from it.”

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2218

In another post, he shared the following lines:

“The people are fearing #Corona * We say Allāh is our Protector[1]
He is the Healer of diseases[2] * And He cures us of our affliction (plague)
So Oh Lord to You are all praises due * For all the favors bestowed upon us by You
We ask Allāh to increase us * Increase us in the gifts bestowed upon us
We seek refuge Oh God of the Universe * From illness that overtakes us”

1. Mawlāna:

Say: “Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector).” And in Allah let the believers put their trust.

Surah at-Tawbah 9:51

2. ash-Shāfi:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to treat some of his wives by passing his right hand over the place of ailment and used to say,

“O Allah, the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble and heal the patient, for You are the Healer. No healing is of any avail but Yours; healing that will leave behind no ailment.”

Al-Bukhari (5743) and Muslim (2191) from the Ḥadīth of the mother of the believers ‘Aisha
